Chef Amrita Raichand’s philosophy centres on making nutritious meals exciting and accessible for families and kids

From the dazzling world of modelling and television to the culinary space, Chef Amrita Raichand’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.
Starting her journey as a celebrated TV personality, she discovered her true passion in the kitchen, transforming into a culinary expert dedicated to promoting healthy eating. Amrita gained recognition through her TV show, earning a spot in Tatler magazine’s list of the world’s top seven food hostesses alongside Nigella Lawson and Rachael Ray. In August 2023, the Ministry of Culture appointed her as India’s Culinary Ambassador.
Fast forward to 2025, and she’s now hosting cooking shows and sharing easy-to-follow recipes on social media — a platform she credits as a blessing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Amrita found her true calling in the culinary space after becoming a mother and since then she has appeared on many food shows: ‘Mummy ka Magic’ on Food Food channel is considered the longest running food show on Indian television.
Her niche is unique — crafting wholesome, nutritious and delicious meals that appeal to families and most importantly, kids. Through her philosophy of "Healthy is not boring," she has revolutionised home cooking, making it both accessible and enjoyable.
Personal inspiration
Blessed with her mother’s culinary talent and a deep-seated passion for food, she decided to pursue cooking professionally. To refine her skills, she enrolled in an advanced culinary course in Singapore and later worked at a five-star hotel to gain firsthand experience of a commercial kitchen.
While food had always excited her, it soon became a source of inspiration. She began curating content, sharing recipes, and posting nutrition and food-related insights on social media. This consistent effort gradually paved the way for a successful career, earning her multiple endorsements in the food space, television shows, and, most importantly, immense love and respect from followers in India and abroad. Though her journey has been fulfilling, she believes there is still much more to achieve.

What makes Amrita’s cooking stand out is her ability to create balanced, nutritious meals that kids genuinely enjoy. Her knack for reinventing traditional recipes into modern, health-conscious versions has made her a household name.
She emphasises that healthy ingredients can easily be disguised with the right presentation and flavours, a technique she has mastered over the years.

According to her, keeping a variety of homemade pastes and sauces on hand, like salsa, green chutney or delicious hummus, can also make mealtime easier. When a child is hungry, a wholesome sandwich with cheese, salsa and vegetables or a quick snack of chips with hummus can be prepared in no time, ensuring both nutrition and taste.
