Celebrating the 78th Independence Day with India’s journey to food freedom
Food freedom is often misunderstood as merely having access to food. It’s more than that. It’s about having the choice of nutritious, affordable options, produced sustainably. India’s journey to food freedom is a testament to the relentless efforts of visionary leaders who worked tirelessly in its fields.
The Green Revolution was a pivotal moment in India’s agricultural history. It was a technological breakthrough that significantly boosted food production, helping us overcome challenges. However, the journey to food security was far from easy. It required the dedication and expertise of individuals who became the architects of India's agricultural renaissance.

His research on high-yielding varieties of wheat and rice transformed India's agricultural landscape. His work not only increased food production but also empowered millions of farmers, lifting them out of poverty. His emphasis on sustainability and social justice ensured that the benefits of the Green Revolution reached the most vulnerable sections of society. He won several accolades like the Padma Vibhushan, World Food Prize, and numerous honorary doctorates.
