How to feed your feed!
The world of blogging has undergone metamorphoses. What used to be a weekend activity, more like a hobby, has turned into a profession. With rising number of people taking it up due to the opportunity of working on one’s own terms, today, they are faced with the challenge of publishing content that will break the clutter and stand out.
Industry experts and food bloggers came together at Godrej One, Vikhroli on August 22, 2017 to discuss on the topic: ‘How to feed your feed’. The event was graced by Sneha Vaidyanathan from Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook , Aanam Chasmawala, a leading lifestyle blogger and founder of What When Wear, Adarsh Munjal of The Big Bhookad fame , Avani Davda (MD of Godrej Nature’s Basket), Varsha Patra (CEO and Co-Founder, Homegrown) and Sajan Raj Kurup (Founder and Creative Chairman, Creativeland Asia Group).
The affair kicked off with welcome address by Sunil Kataria, Business Head – India & SAARC Countries, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. He highlighted how influencers are impacting the brand and video content has become the popular format in marketing communication. The evolution of social has enabled communication between brands, influencers and consumers.
This was followed by an interactive session by Sneha Vaidyanathan from Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook . Sneha highlighted the various ways of leveraging Instagram to promote a blog. She spoke about the three primary forms of storytelling on Instagram i.e. videos, images and stories.
Avani Davda (MD of Godrej Nature’s Basket) along with panelist Varsha Patra (CEO and Co-Founder, Homegrown); Aanam; Sajan Raj Kurup (Founder and Creative Chairman, Creativeland Asia Group) and Sneha shined light on the various ways to ‘feed your feed’. The panelists shared personal experiences and insights that helped them in their social media journeys. Sajan highlighted how content has shifted from an editorial format to ‘experimentorial’ format. He emphasised the need to be honest in the way you put your content across. Sneha discussed the need to add unique DNA to your content to stand out from the cacophony. Given that the entry barriers in the blogging space are negligible, having a value system and perspective will help, said Varsha. “There’s no set rules to blogging”, said Aanam.
Aanam Chasmawala, a leading lifestyle blogger and founder of What When Wear shared tips and insights through her journey as a lifestyle blogger and how she came to be in the field. She explained how it is important to merge personal content with professional content.
Adarsh Munjal’s workshop on food photography gave audiences valuable tips on clicking the perfect food picture. While taking food shots in restaurants, he advised getting a table next to the window, as natural light always works best. Adarsh also pointed out that Instagram editing tools are as good as that of Photoshop and bloggers should certainly explore them more. Finally, Adarsh gave out his three-point mantra for the perfect food click using a smart phone.
A spot food photography contest was held for the attendees at the end of the workshop. The event concluded with a networking session at Vikhroli Social, where guests got a chance to compare notes over chilled beverages.
