Emojis on your plate: Foodie fun for World Emoji Day

Celebrate with playful food ideas inspired by popular emojis

16 Jul 2024

Emojis – those little digital icons – have become an essential part of our online communication. But what if we could bring those emojis to life on our plates, and not just with elaborate creations? World Emoji Day (July 17) is the perfect excuse to get creative in the kitchen and have some fun with food.

Beyond the plate: Godrej Yummiez joins the emoji fun

Godrej Yummiez Crispy Potato Starz are the perfect emoji food in themselves. These bite-sized, star-shaped potato snacks are bursting with flavour and fun, ready to be incorporated into your emoji-themed meals or enjoyed on their own.

Smiley face pancakes

Start your day on a bright note with classic pancakes transformed into happy faces. Simply use cookie cutters or freehand circles for your pancake batter, then add chocolate chips for eyes and a banana slice for a happy smile.

Heart-shaped pizzas

Spread the love with heart-shaped pizzas! Use a pizza cutter or cookie cutter to shape your pizza dough before adding your favourite toppings. Classic cheese and jalapenos are always welcome but consider heart-shaped vegetables like bell peppers.

Emoji macarons

These delightful French pastries are typically round, but a little creativity can transform them into tiny emoji masterpieces. Once you've filled your macaron shells with buttercream or ganache, use a piping bag with a small tip to create emoji faces. The options are endless –  a simple dot for an eye or a squiggly line for a smile.

Poop emoji cupcakes (don't worry, they're delicious!)

These might sound strange, but they can be surprisingly cute and tasty. Use chocolate cupcakes with a dollop of chocolate frosting in the centre for ‘swirl’. Add candy eyes and a pretzel stick for a playful touch. Perfect for a light-hearted surprise.

Emoji shaped cookies

Cookies are a classic treat, and with a little creativity, they can be plated as bite-sized pieces of expression. Use cookie cutters in various emoji shapes – smiley faces, stars, poop (don't worry, it'll be cute!) or anything your heart desires. If you don't have specific cutters, get creative with freehand shapes. Use frosting, sprinkles, edible food markers or even candy pieces to create your emoji faces.
