How to make delicious dishes with only 5 ingredients

Beat the holiday blues with these simple yet delicious appetisers or even quick weeknight dinners

The holiday season is past us and it’s back to reality. As we adjust to the new normal, here are some simple recipes that you can make with the stuff leftover in your refrigerator! These versatile recipes work well as snacks when the 5pm hunger pangs strike or even as a meal.

So, beat the holiday blues and treat yourself to these quick and delicious dishes that use five ingredients or less.

Bacon-wrapped sausages

Bacon, Godrej Yummiez breakfast chicken sausages, black pepper powder, sweet chilli sauce, and Godrej Imported Refined Sunflower Oil are all you need for this delicious appetiser.

Pre-heat the oven at 180°C. Shallow fry the bacon over medium heat in a frying pan with a teaspoon of Godrej Imported Refined Sunflower Oil. Make sure you don’t let the bacon get too crispy. Place the bacon on tissue paper to drain it and let it cool. Wrap the Godrej Yummiez breakfast chicken sausages in the bacon and secure the roll with a toothpick. In a shallow bowl, mix the sweet chilli sauce and pepper powder and slather them over the rolls. Bake the rolls on a greased baking tray for about 25-30 minutes (or until the bacon is crispy) and serve hot. Pair it with a side of salad and you’ve got yourself a delicious weeknight meal!

Sweet and spicy chicken wings

For this simple recipe, you will need chicken wings, barbeque sauce, sriracha or chilli sauce, flour and oil.

Pre-heat the Godrej Convection Microwave Oven at 200°C. Coat the chicken wings evenly in the flour and then bake them for about 45-50 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown. In a separate bowl, mix the barbeque and chilli sauces, and coat the baked wings in this. Bake the wings again for about 8-10 minutes until the sauce caramelises. Serve hot!

If you have a sweet tooth for sweet potatoes, then this healthy treat is for you! You will need sweet potatoes, olive oil, minced garlic, oregano powder or any herb of your choice and chilli flakes.

Finely slice the sweet potatoes, then coat evenly with olive oil, minced garlic, oregano powder and chilli flakes. Bake in the pre-heated oven at 150°C for 10-15 minutes, until the slices are an even golden brown and look crispy. Pair these sweet potato chips with a homemade gluten-free burrito bowl and you’ve got a winner winner homemade dinner!

Stuffed baked capsicums

If you have some capsicums lying in your refrigerator and don’t want to stuff them with the regular mashed potato masala, then try this protein-rich recipe! You will need a few capsicums, Real Good chicken mince, chopped onions, diced garlic and Godrej Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil.

Slice the capsicums or bell peppers into two halves and keep aside. In a pan, stir-fry the garlic, onions and Real Good chicken mince in Godrej Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil. Let the mixture cook for a while and dry out a bit. Once the mixture cools down, stuff it into the capsicum halves. Bake the capsicums at 180°C for 25-30 minutes. If you want to jazz up the dish a bit, you can even bake the capsicums topped with grated cheese.

Thai chicken meatballs

This one is for Thai food lovers — meatballs with a twist! You will need some Real Good minced chicken, diced garlic, coconut milk, Thai red curry paste and Godrej Sesame Oil to fry.

Marinate the chicken mince with the red curry paste, coconut milk and diced garlic for around 30 minutes. Roll the mixture into equal sized balls and shallow-fry them in Godrej Sesame Oil. Serve hot with satay sauce.

Baked potato wedges

You will need some large potatoes sliced into wedges, olive oil, dried oregano (or parsley) paprika powder and grated parmesan or any hard cheese.

Pre-heat the Godrej Convection Microwave Oven at 200°C in the convection mode. In a bowl, add the potato wedges, olive oil, dried herb of your choice, paprika powder and grated cheese, and toss well! Place the seasoned potato slices, skin down on a greased baking tray and bake for about 45 minutes. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
