Celebrate Eid with Chef Varun Inamdar

Eid-ul-fitr is about expressing gratitude, celebratory feasts and the coming together of loved ones

The holy month of Ramzan is a time for prayer, fasting, and a period where one is brought closer to God. Eid marks the end of the fasting period and celebrates the beautiful journey undertaken by the followers, during the month of Ramzan. 

On the day, followers rise early, take their prayers, and celebrate with their loved ones. Eid Ul Fitr translates to ‘the festival of the breaking of the fast’. During iftaar loved ones congregate, celebrate and treat themselves to a range of delicacies!

Make the delicacies at home!

There are a host of recipes one can indulge in during Eid! Maybe try some Kabuli Pulao, an Afghani pulao with lamb and a host of spices! Or some Falsa Sharbet, a tangy drink made with fresh falsa, black salt and the freshness of mint!

The good old’ Shami Kebabs act as perfect appetisers with the royal biryani. Made with ground mutton/chicken and aromatic spices, they taste heavenly with some mint chutney and onion rings!

Finally, the Sheer Kurma is a famous dessert made with milk, seviyan, dates and nuts! 

A special dish

This Eid, Chef Varun Inamdar brings to you Gond Katira Falooda, which combines two of the best Indian beverage recipes- Jigarthanda and Falooda. Jigarthanda is a recipe from Tamil Nadu, which uses a unique ingredient known as Badam Pisin or almond gum. Almond gum is a coolant and can be found in Ayurvedic shops or even online. 

The recipe is made with Badam Pisin and falooda noodles, which you can purchase or even make yourself using millet flour!

In a cup, add the falooda noodles at the bottom of the glass, followed by Badam Pisin, and a syrup of your choice, say rose! Next, add the Godrej Jersey Milk, and set it in the refrigerator for a while. Serve this delicious beverage chilled and wow your guests with the perfect falooda!
