A protein-packed, easy-peasy traditional breakfast to kick-start your day

It is an accepted fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Even then, many households struggle to rustle up a balanced or healthy breakfast. A common trend noticed among working families is that many either skip breakfast or grab something on the way to office due to their busy schedules.

Ingredients

Kodon flour 1 cup/s
Black cumin seeds 1 tablespoon/s (tbsp)
Curry leaves 1 handful
Hot water 1 cup/s
Onions, green chillies and carrots (finely chopped) 1 cup/s
Salt to taste

Method

  • Wash the kodon flour thrice, thoroughly. Cut the onions, green chillies, and vegetables.
  • Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and add mustard and cumin seeds. After a few seconds, add onion, green chillies, carrot, and curry leaves. Cook for two minutes on a medium flame.
  • Add the kodon flour and hot water and salt. Mix well and cover the pan.
  • Cook the upma thoroughly for a few minutes. Serve hot.
