It is an accepted fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Even then, many households struggle to rustle up a balanced or healthy breakfast. A common trend noticed among working families is that many either skip breakfast or grab something on the way to office due to their busy schedules.

Ingredients
| Kodon flour | 1 cup/s | 
| Black cumin seeds | 1 tablespoon/s (tbsp) | 
| Curry leaves | 1 handful | 
| Hot water | 1 cup/s | 
| Onions, green chillies and carrots (finely chopped) | 1 cup/s | 
| Salt | to taste | 
Method
- Wash the kodon flour thrice, thoroughly. Cut the onions, green chillies, and vegetables.
- Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and add mustard and cumin seeds. After a few seconds, add onion, green chillies, carrot, and curry leaves. Cook for two minutes on a medium flame.
- Add the kodon flour and hot water and salt. Mix well and cover the pan.
- Cook the upma thoroughly for a few minutes. Serve hot.
